Graduation of Class 2020

We had a lovely intimate evening with the Class of 2020, thanks to everyone who took part and made the evening a memorable one, one that will be remembered for many years to come.

Nelson Mandela

Mandela was a civil rights leader in South Africa, standing up against a government or system that encouraged racial inequality which kept all races separate from one another.

With all the demonstrations going on the world over currently, the children were looking at Nelson Mandela and saw how he achieved so much and ended apartheid in South Africa almost 30 years ago.

Quoting Barack Obama "he was more than just a man – he was a symbol of the struggle for justice, equality, and dignity in South Africa and around the globe"

Cinquain poetry

A Cinquain is a five-lined poem (hence the name!)

They are easy and fun to write and they don’t require a whole lot of words!

Format for writing a Cinquain

Line 1: One word (a noun, the subject of the poem)
Line 2: Two words (adjectives that describe the subject in line 1)
Line 3: Three words (-ing action verbs–participles–that relate to the subject in line 1)
Line 4: Four words (a phrase or sentence that relates feelings about the subject in line 1)
Line 5: One word (a synonym for the subject in line 1 or a word that sums it up)

STEM Challenge

So here was the challenge.

1. Build your name in 3D.

2. Build an animal enclosure for one of your teddies or toy animals.

3. Make a boat that can float.

4. Build a house of cards

5. Make a chain reaction.

6. Make a marble maze.

7. Build a bridge that can hold some toy cars.

8. Make a robot from recycled materials.

9. Build a tower as tall as yourself!

10. Make a paper aeroplane that can fly at least 2 metres
